The Gateway Vincentian Volunteers is a non-for profit 501 (c-3) organization. We are a yearlong service ministry for young adults who live in community and work with people living in poverty in south St. Louis. We are interested in hiring someone to periodically update our website as requested and in a timely fashion. Work from your home. We estimate two to three hours a month.

Persuasion Operatives
Jay Nixon For Governor

Description:
Jay Nixon for Governor is looking for highly motivated applicants with exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills for our swing-vote persuasion campaign. These Persuasion Operatives will communicate directly with independent and swing voters to motivate them to vote Democratic in November. This voting population will be nationally watched and will play a crucial role in the outcome of the election. Operatives will be asked to work 36 hours per week in the afternoon and evening so that those who are current students can take classes at the same time.

Development Officer
Veterans for Peace

Description
Veterans For Peace (www.veteransforpeace.org) has been “waging peace” since 1985. Today, its membership comprises more than 7,000 members, including veterans from the Spanish Civil War to the Iraq War, who seek to raise public awareness of the true costs and consequences of militarism and war. The organization is open to military veterans, family, friends and supporters.
Veterans for Peace is seeking a Development Officer to manage and implement our individual giving program, with a focus on direct mail, giving campaigns, and membership. The Development Officer writes the organization’s newsletters, grant proposals, and other miscellaneous projects. The Development Officer reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Job Functions/Major Area of Responsibility
Supports Executive Director in overall administrative tasks to support Development
• Writes newsletters development articles, appeal letters, thank you notes, and other grant proposals, miscellaneous documents.
• Assists with introducing tiered philanthropic giving societies.
• Develop gift processing systems that efficiently and effectively manage database files, acknowledgements, renewals, special appeals and acquisitions.
• Supports the Executive Director and/or Board with member/donor scheduling, setting up meetings, and other various development tasks.
• Manage all details of the e-Tapestry system, including but not limited to the mail-house relationship, creative agency relationship and relationship with the database agency
• Enters and queries donor information, while ensuring the integrity and timeliness of data, which is essential for strategic cultivation and solicitation activities.
• Manages all direct mail correspondence with the creative agency, mail-house to ensure successful campaigns.
• Tracks funds received against funds projected in various reports including the Fund Management Reports and other on-going reports.
• Works to develop a grants management system including filing and tracking system for contracts and grant rfps, proposals and reports.
• Works in conjunction with the Executive Director to actively develop a grants management system that improves the overall level efficiency of the grant writing and mailing process.
• Collects all attachments and miscellaneous documents for preparation of all grants to be mailed. Makes copies of grants ensuring accuracy with attention paid to detail.
• Works in conjunction with Accounting to set up a reconciliation process between Development and Accounting. Process all checks and make copies on an ongoing basis.
• Actively participates in the production of grant proposals and appeal letters.
• Supports the Communications and Outreach Coordinator and Membership Manager for all special events and other projects as directed
• Attends, assists, and works to help get the word out about VFP through special events, diversity fairs, and job expositions
• Communicates, schedules and takes meeting notes for the Resource Development weekly team meetings and other committee meetings
• Coordinates and participates in all Development Committee meetings

Qualifications/Experience
• Personal belief in mission, goals and objectives of Veterans For Peace and the ability to articulate the case for support so that individuals "buy into" the vision/mission/goals of the organization.
• 3 years experience in closely related fields such as sales, marketing and/or public relations with at least one year of fund-raising experience either as a volunteer or in a professional capacity in fundraising. Knowledge of direct response programs (direct mail operations, telemarketing, and online), and production of collateral materials, demonstrated through experience.
• Proficient with Windows-based word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail and the Internet. Expertise in establishing and operating a computerized database for membership fundraising, managing volunteer records, and grant tracking.
• Demonstrated success and comfort working as a self-starter to meet deadlines and dollar goals.
• Ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and tactfully—in writing and in person—with members, donors and staff.
• Web design knowledge is desirable. Graphic designer skills and experience in preparing presentations and deliverables is a plus. Experience in media outreach, public relations, and grassroots advocacy is helpful. Experience with Quark and Adobe/other image editing software highly preferred.
