Weather Alert Notification System

Webster University (including the Community Music School) has implemented a new mass notification system to be used to alert students, faculty, and staff in the event of an on-campus emergency or school closure due to weather.

•  Individuals will be able to use a self-service web interface to opt-in to receiving only the notifications they choose. The choice of notification methods includes: SMS text messages to a cell phone, an email account, a Blackberry or text pager, a RSS feed or any combination of these.

•  The service offers the choice of receiving emergency alerts and/or notification about severe weather and other campus closings/delays.

HwyI-64/40 Updates

Wondering how best to get to your lessons, rehearsals, concerts, or recitals?  With all lanes in both directions from Ballas to I-170 on Hwy. 64/40 closed, here are some alternatives for getting to the CMS  in Webster Groves.

From West St. Louis County:
Option 1:  Take I-270 south to I-44. Take I-44 east to the Elm Avenue exit and turn left (north) to Big Bend.  Turn right onto Big Bend to campus.

To Avoid I-270 traffic:  Take Hwy 141/Woodsmill Rd. south to Big Bend  and east to campus
or farther south on 141/Woodsmill  to I-44 and then east to the Elm Avenue exit and left (north) to Big Bend following Big Bend to the right (east) to campus.

From North of I-64/Hwy 40:
Standard route:  Take I-170 south to east on Eager Road (exit will remain open during construction).  Turn right (south) on Hanley Road.  Hanley Road becomes Laclede Station Road.  Turn right (west) on Big Bend  Blvd. to campus. ( If you can get to Hanley Road without using I-170, you might make better time at certain times of the day.)

To avoid Hanley:  Turn right (west) on Eager Road to Brentwood Blvd.  Turn left (south) on Brentwood (past Manchester) to Marshall Road. Turn left on Marshall to Bompart (top of the hill).  Turn right (south ) on Bompart (across Lockwood and Big Bend) and right into Lot K.

To avoid I-170  & Eager Road traffic:  Get off I-170 at Delmar or Ladue Rd.  Go east to Hanley Road, south to Big Bend Blvd., and west to campus.

To avoid Hanley Road from Clayton and University City:  Take Forest Park Pkwy to Big Bend Blvd.  Go south and west to campus.

If you are in the Ladue area: Consider taking Warson Rd. south to Manchester.  Go east (left) on Manchester to McKnight.  Turn right (south) on McKnight (which becomes Rockhill Road) to Lockwood.  Take Lockwood left (east) to Bompart and turn right on Bompart, which will put you right in Lot K at Big Bend.  (Please note that the McKnight Road and McCutcheon overpasses will be closed during 2008.)
