
STUDY ABROAD
SPANISH IN MENDOZA, ARGENTINA

Webster
University in St. Louis offers students an exciting
opportunity to improve your Spanish skills this summer in
Argentina! Students will have the opportunity to live and
study in Mendoza, Argentina and earn 6 credit hours at the
graduate or undergraduate level. This study trip includes
Spanish classes in reading and writing, review of grammar,
pronunciation and listening comprehension, oral
communication, and Argentine literature and culture.
An experienced Spanish instructor from
Webster University, Professor Graciela Corval·n, accompanies
the students throughout the study abroad experience.
Students receive special passes to use the university’s
libraries, sports facilities and other student oriented
programs. This program is co-sponsored by the Department of
International Languages and Cultures at Webster University
and the Spanish as a Foreign Language Center (C.E.L.E.), a
Program at the Facultad de FilosofÌa y Letras, Universidad
Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina.
Classes are held for six weeks (May 22 –
June 30) at the Facultad de FilosofÌa y Letras five days a
week. Students live with families and use public
transportation to get to and from classes. This program
includes a tour of the area wineries, city tour, a day trip
to San Juan a famous archeological site. Several optional
excursions for a minimal cost are offered: Weekend in
Uspallata, a valley at 3,000 meters of altitude between the
Andes and pre-Andes Mountains, a day trip to the thermal
baths at a mountain resort and a weekend excursion to Buenos
Aires, the capital city.

Program Administration
The Faculty Director of this study trip is
Graciela N. V. Corval·n. This is the seventh year that
Professor Corval·n has directed this study tour, in her
hometown of Mendoza. Dr. Corval·n is a professor in the
Department of International Languages and Cultures at
Webster University.
Courses
Students can enroll in one of the following
courses: at the undergraduate level - ILC 2000, Intermediate
Level or ILC 4000, Advanced Level and at the graduate level
- ILC 5120 and ILC 5170.
Study
Tour
Students will live with local families and
take classes for five weeks. Students will arrive three days
prior to classes and the program ends four days after
classes end to give the students the opportunity to spend
time with their families or travel. Classes focus on
grammar, conversation skills and writing exercises. Local
excursions supplement the curriculum. Students will have the
opportunity to take day trips for a small additional fee.
