ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
Professors and students in the English Department cultivate creativity, actively appreciate the beauty and power of great writing, and consistently strive to connect art with life. Classes are small and discussion-oriented, and students are individually mentored by their professors and advisors.
Students graduate with not only a substantial knowledge of literature and excellent writing abilities, but also the general critical reading, thinking, and communication skills necessary to make a mark on the world in whatever way they see fit.
Students may also choose to pursue an Honors distinction within the English major.

| Meg teaches courses in US literature, world drama, women's literature, and the adaptation of literature into film. Her research includes work on Kate Chopin, Ernest Hemingway, and the study and performance of Shakespeare by incarcerated men and women, whom she has taught in Missouri prisons for the last five years.
