Webster: Birthplace of World’s Top App Company

Two years since hatching his plan for a new company and what would become the mega app hit Tap Tap Revenge, Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem returned to Webster University where it all began.

"The funny thing is in a way our company Tapulous was born here," Decrem said. "I started the company in January 2008 and we had two developers in Iowa and this really talented young designer named Louie Mantia who was a student at Webster University here in St. Louis. When we were getting everybody together we decided to meet in St. Louis. Louie hosted us and we spent three days here on campus at Emerson Library. It was here we mapped out our plan on how we were going to launch and out of that came Tap Tap Revenge." Read more.

SBT Names New Advisory Board Chair

It's been said, by author and SBT alumni Chuck Feltz no less, that the job of a leader is to not just see companies as they are, but to see them as what they can become. Knowing that the SBT announced this week the appointment of Dale L. Cammon as the new chair of The School of Business & Technology's advisory board, a man who sees what's next in education and can help take the School of Business there.

"I am excited to be a part of a group of talented and dedicated advisory board members who share a common interest in the continuing success of the School of Business and Technology at Webster University," Mr. Cammon said upon accepting the appointment. "Webster University is the only academic institution that I know of where entrepreneurial thinking and academics intersect and the study of Business and Technology is right in the middle of that intersection."

Dean Akande to Remain at Webster

Benjamin Akande, dean of Webster's School of Business & Technology, announced today he has withdrawn his name as a candidate from two higher educational presidential searches. Dr. Akande, who has led the SBT since 2000, was the finalist at University of Evansville and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

"Being selected as a finalist was such an honor," Dean Akande said. "And visiting these outstanding institutions and meeting their faculty and staff has been a great experience for me. But it brought home for me the love I have for Webster University. The support of faculty, staff, administrators and trustees was very much appreciated. I look forward to continuing my role as dean of the School of Business & Technology at Webster."
