The School of Communications at Webster University is a great place to be. But don’t just take my word for it … click through our site and see the vitality, the learning opportunities and the student-centered attitude at the School of Communications.

SOC Vitality
Our students energize the school as soon as they arrive on campus. Students literally line up to become involved in the more than 20 clubs, organizations and student media thriving in the School of Communications. From Day 1 of their college life, students can choose to work on the nationally acclaimed student magazine, The Ampersand, or the award-winning student newspapers published in St. Louis, Vienna, Leiden, London, Thailand or Geneva.

Students win scholarships, are elected to positions of leadership and emerge triumphant in national contests. They serve as officers in media clubs like the Audio Engineering Society, the Advertising/Marketing Communications Club, the worldwide Media Association or the Public Relations Student Society of America. There’s a place to become involved in just about any interest in media. Don’t see something to fit your interest? Start something new!

SOC Learning
Our students devour media courses that blend theory and practice, taught by experienced faculty members who study and work in their respective fields of media. Students enroll in both liberal arts general education courses and in specific media courses choosing from the more than 800 School of Communications courses worldwide.

Study abroad? You bet.

Study in a professional media setting as an intern? We have hundreds of quality internships available worldwide and we encourage our students to study in the cities where their professional media interests are most active — New York, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Nashville, Geneva, etc.

Worried about transitioning from university life to your professional career? Faculty and staff in the School of Communications believe your education continues after graduation day. With a special alumni support program, SOC Beyond, we help our alumni keep in touch with us, their fellow alumni and professionals in their fields.

SOC Student-Centered Mission
Students wanted to create a TV station … the School of Communications did it. Students wanted a lobby where they could mingle and find other students with similar interests … the SOC financed the furniture and the students built the interactive digital media project that exhibited their portfolios.

Students needed state-of-the-art media equipment to be prepared for careers in audio production, photography, video, film and animation … for 10 years the university has made an annual commitment to the capital funding necessary to keep students at the top of their games.

Again, don’t take my word for it. Explore our site and see it for yourself. Enjoy your visit to the School of Communications.
