Freshman Scholarships

Other Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarship funds are awarded each year to new students who intend to enroll at Webster University for the following fall semester. Students who enter the University in any entry term other than Fall I will have their applications for scholarship assistance considered in the spring for the following fall semester.

Webster University’s general policy is to limit each new student to only one scholarship to ensure that scholarship funds can be maximized and benefit a larger number of students. All new students will be awarded the maximum scholarship they qualify for at the time they are accepted to the University.

The following are scholarship application guidelines:

  1. Applicants must be seeking their first baccalaureate degree.
  2. Applicants should have a cumulative grade average of B or better (as calculated by Webster University) on all prior work attempted in high school and/or college.
  3. Applicants must have been accepted to the University as degree-seeking.
  4. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  5. Unless otherwise noted, applicants must be enrolled at the Webster Groves campus only.
  6. Scholarships are not applicable to summer session unless otherwise noted.

Scholarship awards to new students in 2005–2006 range from $2,000 to full tuition and are generally renewable at the same level if the required academic progress conditions are met. Awards apply only to fall and spring semester tuition charges at Webster.

Applicants who are accepted or submit required credentials after the scholarship application deadline are considered only if funds remain. Scholarship decisions are based on the University’s evaluation of an applicant’s previous academic background.

Unless otherwise indicated, all scholarships are based on full-time, flat-fee (13 to 18 credit hours) enrollment for consecutive terms until required credit hours for graduation (128) are completed.

Grade point averages (G.P.A.) are calculated on all previous academic work. For transfers, previous academic work includes all attempted credits at accredited institutions from which Webster accepts transfer credit.

HOW TO APPLY

To be considered for Webster University scholarship funds, you need to apply for admission to the University. The application is used to make the admission decision as well as allow consideration for scholarship eligibility.

Some scholarships require a separate application form and are so noted in their description.
