42nd StreetWebster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts in the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts presents the Tony award-winning musical “42nd Street,” Nov. 16-20 on the Mainstage of Webster’s Loretto-Hilton Center, 130 Edgar Road. Based on the 1930s film by the same name, “42nd Street,” is the second longest running American musical in Broadway history. The original Broadway production in 1980 ushered in a new age of theatrical spectacle that continues today. The current revival opened in May of 2001.

“42nd Street” is a fast-paced musical that provides an unglamorized look at the tough realities of backstage life. The story centers on the lives of a down-on-his-luck Broadway director, a talented ingénue and an established leading lady. Part of the magic of “42nd Street” is the memorable and captivating songs like “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Shuffle Off to Buffalo,” and “We're in the Money.”

“42nd Street” is directed by Byron Grant, chair of the Webster’s Theatre and Dance Department and choreographed by Dana Lew
is, a member of Webster’s jazz dance faculty and former member of the International Company of “42nd Street.
