What/Who:

"Two Times True," featuring pianist Carolbeth True and drummer David True, will perform a jazz concert at Webster University. The group’s repertoire is contemporary jazz/rock, jazz classics. Classics by Wayne Shorter, Horace Silver and Chick Corea, a Dave Matthews hit; and an original by bassist Glen Smith will be performed, among other selections.

"Two Times True" released a CD last November to two sellout audiences at Finale Music and Dining. The idea for the CD was that of our producer Bill Becker: to record mom and son together with other musicians.

Performers include Carolbeth True-piano and Gem keyboard; David True- drums; Glen Smith-bass and Larry Johnson-saxophone. The program: 

“Black Nile” Wayne Shorter; “The Source” Chris Potter; “Nica's Dream” 

Horace Silver; “My One and Only Love” Guy Wood-Robert Mellin; “Warehouse” Dave Matthews; “Love is Calling” Glen Smith; “Got a Match” Chick Corea; “Fool's Gold” Joe Sample; “The Chicken” PeeWee Ellis and “Speak Low” Kurt Weill.

Carolbeth True is one of St. Louis' finest pianists and a long-time Webster faculty member. She is also featured in many clubs and concert hall across St. Louis. She has performed with numerous artists including Harry Allen, Buddy DeFranco, Gary Foster, Terry Gibbs, Scott Hamilton, Warren Vache, Roseanne Vitro and Bill Watrous. 

She has served as rehearsal pianist and assistant musical director with The MUNY for twenty years and has performed with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. She was the 2004 recipient of the St. Louis Magazine “Musician of the Year” award.
