THOMAS BANDY

M.A. in history from San Diego State University, and Candidate in Philosophy degree in history from UCLA

Mr. Bandy has worked overseas for the United States Central Intelligence Agency's Directorate of Operations (Clandestine Service) for the past three decades. The CIA initially recruited him because of his background in Byzantine and Middle Eastern history. Mr. Bandy's primary focus as a senior manager in the Clandestine Service was on anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism programs. During his career with the CIA, he worked closely with national police and intelligence services in South America and Europe. He has also managed multi-million dollar programs in the fields of counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics, which were mandated by the National Security Council. He oversaw security programs involving the American diplomatic and business communities in Latin America and southern Europe--including prevention from terrorist attack, robbery, kidnapping and carjackings. Mr. Bandy was responsible for coordinating efforts between the U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Embassy and host country security and intelligence services for visits by prominent figures. He is presently completing an anti-terrorism security survey for a leading U.S. defense contractor with offices on the West Coast and East Coast. This survey includes a threat assessment of the San Diego area, with recommendations for strengthening the facility against terrorist attacks.

KEVIN BARRETT

M.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY

Mr. Barrett has been an Associate Professor at Palomar College in the Administration of Justice Department since 1992. He received Palomar's 'Distinguished Faculty Award' in 1996. NISOD 'Excellence in Teaching Award' at the University of Texas at Austin in 1997. He is a retired Police Lieutenant from Westchester County, NY 1971-92. He lectures nationwide in the area of police stress and post shooting trauma.

TIM BECKER

DBA in Marketing from United States International University. MBA from the University of Dallas

Dr. Becker has been teaching at the college level for over 23 years covering marketing, management/business at various universities including SDSU and USD. He has over a decade of airline customer service, operations, and marketing work in management at American Airlines and Braniff International where he developed and managed Braniff International's worldwide operations and its primary hub. Dr. Becker has helped start companies, managed and directed small to medium-sized companies, all focusing around marketing, product development, service development. Dr. Becker is co-owner and CEO of Total Recall Learning, Inc. that provides a learning retention technology system that ensures people remember what they are trying to learn.

BILL L. BOGGS
M.A. in Health Care Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. B.S. in Health Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Mr. Boggs has an extensive background in Health Care and Human Resource Management, as well as Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Management. Since 2000, he has served as a Consultant to Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki Motor Companies. He has previously held varied managerial positions with the County of San Diego and the U.S. Dept. of Justice. He holds several advanced training certificates, including Total Quality Management from California State University, Long Beach; Human Resource Management from University of California Irvine; and certificates from the U.S. Navy War College, U.S. Army School of Health Sciences and U.S. Dept. of Justice Counter-Terrorism and Disaster Management division. Mr. Boggs has had thirty articles published, covering a wide range of medical and law enforcement topics in various national publications. Mr. Boggs has taught at many universities, including National University, Chapman University, SCUPS, Park University and he has served as a consultant to ITT Technical School. He has received numerous awards throughout his career and is a member of several organizations, including the American Association Law Enforcement Trainers, the American Association of Criminal Justice Instructors, the American Public Health Association and the International Association Chiefs of Police.

ANTHONY J. BRANDENBURG

J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law

Commissioner Brandenburg was appointed to the San Diego County Municipal Court and then Superior Court as a Commissioner. He has an extensive background in alternative dispute resolution, property law, civil law and contracts law. He has taught and lectured for over 23 years nationwide and was recently selected to attend the National Judicial College and has been honored nationally and locally for his teaching programs which include the training of pro-tem judges. He was recently appointed to the teaching faculty at the National Judicial College in Reno Nevada and in 2003 was elected as President of the San Diego County Judges Association. Additionally he was President Elect of the California Court Commissioners Association and will serve as President of the Statewide organization from 2004 until 2006. Outstanding Professor of the Year for 1990 at Webster University.

SAM BRESLER

Ph.D. in Education and M.B.A. in Management from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Graduate Division

Dr. Bresler has served as Corporate Vice-President and Western Regional Director of Human Resources with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). His responsibilities included accountability for the strategic and operational effectiveness of HR service delivery in SAIC's domestic business units primarily West of the Mississippi River. He is also accountable for the effective management of SAIC's Employee Dispute Resolution Process. He is a nationally Life-Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and has also earned Certified Compensation Professional accreditation from World At Work, the professional society formerly known as the American Compensation Association. Dr. Bresler has played a volunteer leadership role in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for many years. He is a member of the SHRM National Foundation Board of Directors, having served as President of that Foundation in 2002. He is a member of the extension faculty at several San Diego-area universities, including Webster University, UCSD and Chapman University.

JAMES J. CARLIN

M.S. in Operations Research/Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School. B.S. in Operations Analysis from the U.S. Naval Academy

Mr. Carlin is a retired U.S. Navy Commander who has over 15 years experience teaching advanced mathematics at the college level. He also spent twenty years as a naval officer/aviator and operations analyst/program manager. During his time teaching at the U.S. Naval Academy, Mr. Carlin teamed with Dr. Henry Richardson, a leading Operations Research pioneer, to teach a course on the techniques of operations research.

DAVID EPSTEIN

MS in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University, Ph.D. in Multidisciplinary Social Science, Michigan State University: concentrations in public administration, sociology and criminal justice

Dr. Epstein is also a graduate of: Federal Executive Institute, US Army Command and General Staff College, Defense Intelligence College, Army War College, and the US Army Special Warfare School. In addition to many high-level, security-related military assignments, he has also served as a Director of Public Safety for USD and a Chief of Police in Savannah, GA.

MARY EVERT

M.B.A. in Health Care Administration from National University and two honorary doctorates for public service and health policy contributions

As a consultant in international strategic management she has over 25 years of international executive, Board of Directors, teaching and consulting experiences in both the public and the private sectors, health care organizations, social services, universities and associations. She is an executive consultant in The Marlin Alliance,doing business transformation, process optimization and strategic change facilitation. She also consults on Board governance, team building, and political and marketing strategies. She chairs the Board of the Palomar Pomerado Health Foundation. She served on the Governor's Statewide Independent Living Council, is Speaker of the American O.T. Association, and is active in the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. Mary was U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Health, past President of the American O.T. Association and Board Chairman of California's largest public hospital district. She is Adjunct Assistant Professor at Washington University in St. Louis and lives in San Diego.

HOLLY GREEN

M.S. in Organization Development from American University in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Green has her Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) and Change Management certifications and currently serves as the Managing Director for The Human Factor, a strategic HR consulting firm. She is primarily responsible for developing and supporting clients in the integration of HR, learning processes, and business strategies to achieve higher business results. Her work includes the analysis, diagnosis, design and implementation of structures and systems to create and sustain organizational capabilities. Ms. Green has more than 20 years of experience in human resources and executive roles in Fortune 100, entrepreneurial, and management consulting organizations as an International Organization Development Consultant, Program Manager for Organizational Effectiveness and Worldwide Staffing Director. She was previously the President of The Ken Blanchard Companies and has worked for and/or consulted to organizations of all sizes around the world including The Coca-Cola Company, AT&T, Dell Computer, Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting and QUALCOMM. She has co-developed and facilitated internationally in the areas of strategic planning, critical staffing, career development, change management and alignment of human resources.

ROBERT H. HERTEL
M.S. in Human Resource Management and Organizational Development from Chapman University and B.A. in Management from University of Phoenix

Mr. Hertel has served in a variety of positions in higher education, including Academic Program Manager at Chapman University; and Adjunct Faculty at San Diego Mesa College, San Diego Golf Academy, and Cabot College. He is currently serving as the Associate Vice-Chancellor of Academic, Student, Planning and Research Services for Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District. Mr. Hertel is affiliated with several professional organizations, including having served as the Executive Director of the San Diego Leadership Initiative, Board Secretary of the San Diego and Imperial County American Red Cross and as the Executive Board Director of Marketing for the San Diego Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development. He has also served as an instructor for the San Diego Society for Human Resource Management National Certification Institute. Mr. Hertel has been a guest lecturer at San Diego State University, National University, University of Phoenix and for USD’s Doctoral in Educational Leadership program. A founding member of the National Servant Leadership Initiative, Mr. Hertel has been a consultant to the Ken Blanchard Companies.

GENE JAMES

Masters Public Administration from Brenau College in Georgia

Mr. James is currently Director, Asset Protection with Jack in the Box, Inc. His responsibilities include all aspects of safety, security and loss prevention for all Jack in the Box Restaurants, Quick Stuff Convenience Stores and JBX Grills located throughout the country. Mr. James also served as VP of Security & Risk Management with AVI Foodsystems and the KFC restaurant division of PepsiCo. Mr. James retired from the U.S. Army Military Police after 20 years of service in 1992. He is a board member and President of the National Food Service Security Council, which is a component of the National Retail Federation. He holds the designation of Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with ASIS International, participated in the CPP Role Delineation Committee and was a member of the CPP Item Development Group, which develops and writes test questions for the CPP examination. Additionally, Mr. James has served as a council chairman and chapter officer with ASIS in the past.

SUZANNE JOHNSON

M.P.H. from San Diego State University

Ms. Johnson is a registered nurse with more than 20 years of health related clinical and management experience. In her current position as Vice President of Sharp Hospice Care, where she has worked since 1993, she is responsible for the largest hospital/health system based hospice program in San Diego County. Her leadership responsibilities include promoting and enhancing compassionate end-of-life care and care of the dying through strategic planning, innovative business development, community development and outreach, and physician education. Ms. Johnson volunteers her time in the community through children's sports and school activities and is a Little League baseball umpire. Ms. Johnson has served as the Faculty Mentor for the Health Services Management Masters Degree Program at Webster University's San Diego Campus.

IRVIN LANDE

Ph.D. in Latin American Studies from Northwestern University

Dr. Lande received a Doherty Foundation grant from Princeton University for two years of study, research, and writing in Argentina and Chile. He has also worked in Costa Rica and Nicaragua since l992 conducting seminars on World Class Manufacturing, how to do business with the U.S., and other international business issues. He has been an international executive for Sears, Roe'buck and Co., having resided nine years in Venezuela. Other work experience includes National Sales Manager for Hitachi Sales Corporation of America. He has taught at a variety of traditional and non-traditional universities, specializing in management, marketing, and international business.

ROBERT LEVIN

LL.M. from New York University School of Law

Mr. Levin is Senior Counsel at Science Applications International Corporation where he handles all employment and labor matters as well as litigation. Mr. Levin has had many articles published in legal periodicals and appears as a guest on the television show "Contemporary Legal Issues". Mr. Levin sits as a Judge Pro Tem in San Diego Superior Court. Mr. Levin has served as the Faculty Mentor for the Human Resources Management Masters Degree Program at Webster University's San Diego Campus.

MICHAEL MARX

M.F.A. in Filmmaking from New York University, M.A. in English (writing) from Indiana State University and B.A. in Political Science (political theory) from Hobart & William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY

Mr. Marx has written over 150 movie reviews and over 75 Op-Ed columns for newspapers; but his main writing has been 3 novels of which he has sold mostly door-to-door, a unique action that has placed him in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and just recently the International Who's Who of Professional Educators.

SANDY MCDONOUGH

J.D. from University of Southern California Law School

Ms. McDonough brings her expertise in representing employers in all aspects of employment litigation, including wrongful termination, harassment, and discrimination suits to the classroom. As an attorney with the firm of Paul, Plevin, Sullivan & Connaughton, Ms. McDonough has had vast experience with advising clients with regard to employment issues, including reduction in force and wage and hour violations as well as litigating matters on their behalf. Ms. McDonough also conducts independent investigations for companies in retaliation, discrimination and harassment matters. Prior to joining her current firm, Ms. McDonough represented public entities in litigation involving the Government Tort Claims Act, civil rights actions, constitutional violations and contract disputes. She also represented insurance carriers and entertainment clients in litigation matters. Ms. McDonough has been an assistant instructor of the Pre-Trial Advocacy class at USC Law School for the past three years. She has taught law students such skills as successfully drafting and arguing motions, effective settlement techniques and the art of depositions.

P.J. ORTMEIER

Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Public Safety Training and Development from The Union Institute

Dr. Ortmeier is the Coordinator for the Administration of Justice and Public Safety and Security Programs at Grossmont College. He is also an adjunct faculty member for California State University San Marcos in their upper division Business Administration and Security Management courses. He has worked in law enforcement and security for over twenty years. His recent publications include Public Safety and Security Administration (1999), Policing the Community: A Guide for Patrol Operations (2002) and Security Management: An Introduction (2002). With Edwin Meese III, former Attorney General of the United States, PJ co-authored Leadership, Ethics, and Policing: Challenge for the 21st Century (2004).

JUDY A. PARKER

MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management, or known as "Thunderbird," in 1995 and BA in Communications at the University of Southern California in 1990.

Ms. Parker is President/Founder of Birch Associates, a marketing consulting company.  It provides the following services: Develop and manage marketing programs, corporate communications programs, product management, branding, customer collateral, and web design. Recent clients: D'Lush, JLK Law, Legend Films, Bartges Communications, and John Wiley & Sons.

In addition, Parker is a Marketing Professor at the University of San Diego's Undergraduate Business School.

For the past five years, she was the Vice President of Marketing at Optimum Health Enterprises (OHE).  Before her employment at OHE, she was the President and Director of Marketing for Devlin Design Group, Inc., an Emmy Award-winning, international broadcast design firm.

From 1998 - 1999, Parker was a part of Legoland California's marketing team in launching its theme park in March 1999.  Prior to her employment at Legoland, she managed the Discovery Communications International Program Sales' marketing initiatives on behalf of the Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, and Animal Planet. 

She has served on the Board of Directors for the Junior League of San Diego

MARY PIETANZA

Master of International Management from American Graduate School of International Management Thunderbird where she studied in Geneva, Switzerland

Ms. Pietanza is the Senior Manager, Professional Development for SAIC University, where she manages professional development programs for Science Applications International Corporation. Her responsibilities include change management consulting activities, performance consulting and team effectiveness facilitation, line management development programs, executive coaching and other organizational development-related programs. Ms. Pietanza is also a certified instructor for SAIC's LEAD Program. She is a certified facilitator for PDI's (Personnel Decisions International) 360 Profilor' Feedback and Coaching development tools, and the MBTI (Myers'Briggs Type Indicator). Her experience includes facilitation and presentations in temperament, interaction styles, perspective shifting and teambuilding. Ms. Pietanza also contributes to SAIC's leadership development programs, including the 21st Century Leadership Program and other programs in development. Ms. Pietanza has more than 18 years experience in business, including significant experience in the education and corporate learning environments that involve organizational behavior and leadership development, global management development training and coaching, cross cultural communication practices, human resources, emergency management training, and technical and software training. She is an experienced Program Manager for the development and implementation of sales training and other learning and performance improvement programs and software. Her background includes startup global business leadership as well.

ROGER PIGEON

M.B.A. in Finance from Chapman University. M.A. from Defense System Management College in Operations & Project Management and Acquisition

 Mr. Pigeon is a retired Navy Supply Corps Captain. He is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Select Services Group, LLC. He has extensive background in Capital Budgeting & Financial Restructuring and Analysis, Inventory Management, Program Management, and Acquisition. He is a certified Program and Supply Chain Manager, and Acquisition Professional. Mr. Pigeon was selected Webster University's "Outstanding Professor" for years 1999 and 2001. Mr. Pigeon has served as the Faculty Mentor for the MBA and Finance Masters Degree Programs at Webster University's San Diego Campus.

CLAUD PITTS, III

D.B.A. in International Financial Management from United States International University

Dr. Pitts is the senior partner of Worldwide Business Consultants, a company that provides consulting services in the area of cash flow management, training and product development to sixteen international banks. His most recent publications include Accounting and Finance for Managers (1998), Financial Management (1997) and Profit, Planning and Control for Managers (1997). Outstanding Professor of the Year for 1994, 1997, and 2004 at Webster University.

JOSEPH PREIMESBERGER

M.B.A. from the University of San Diego Graduate School of Business

Mr. Preimesberger is Vice President for Administration and currently Director of Corporate Travel for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where he is responsible for approximately $250 million of travel expenses. Mr. Preimesberger has been with SAIC since 1984 and has served in various financial positions including Retirement Programs Manager, Financial Accounting Manager, SAP Finance Project Leader and Deputy Director of Internal Audit. Mr. Preimesberger is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of CPAs and Institute of Internal Auditors.

GEORGE SHARGHI

D.B.A. in Finance and Economics from United States International University

Dr. Sharghi is President of Sharghi International Management, an international finance, international relations and global strategic planning consulting organization. He has taught in the areas of finance and business at a number of universities in the San Diego area for the past 20 years and has written custom finance and accounting books. He has worked for Fortune 500 companies for many years including his last position with Security Pacific Corporation where, as Financial Manager, he was responsible for financial analysis and asset/liability management for a $14 billion dollar operation, strategic plan, and operation plan review. His most recent publications include Accounting and Finance for Managers (2000), Financial Management (1997) and Profit, Planning and Control for Managers (1997). Outstanding Professor of the Year for 1992 at Webster University.

JEFF STRAUB

M.B.A. in Finance from National University. AB in International Relations from Stanford University

Mr. Straub holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. Mr. Straub was a member of the founding team of Fotomat Corporation. He is currently Chairman and CFO of Aquanetics Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in aquatics systems design and manufacturing, as well as serving as Chairman of an American-Ukrainian telecommunications Joint Venture, Chairman of an Accounting and Financial Consulting firm in Bermuda, and President of Profit Management Consultants of San Diego. He is bilingual French-English and also speaks fluent Russian as well as several other European languages. He authored Start Up! The Entrepreneur's Guide to New Business Financing and Planning. He is a personal consultant to government leaders of Russia and other former Soviet republics. in areas of finance and entrepreneurship. He serves on the Board of Directors of several non-profit and for-profit corporations and is a member of the prestigious Corporate Directors' Forum. Mr. Straub has served as the Faculty Mentor for the the International Business and Management Masters Degree Programs at Webster University's San Diego Campus.

DARRYL THIBAULT

J.D. from George Washington School of Law in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Thibault spent more that 20 years in the Clandestine Service of the Central Intelligence Agency, serving in Asia, Europe and the United States. Mr. Thibault currently serves as President of the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers and is a Reserve Sergeant with the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. He holds a CPP (Certified Protection Professional) designation and is a member of the World Association of Detectives and the National Association of Former Chiefs of Police. Mr. Thibault is the Managing Director of an International Security & Investigation Agency and is currently serving as a consultant on anti-terrorism to the government in the current war effort. Mr. Thibault has served as the Faculty Mentor for the Business and Organizational Security Management Masters Degree Program at Webster University's San Diego Campus.

CHRIS WEBER

M.A. in Communications Arts and Television from Loyola Marymount University

Mr. Weber has been writing professionally for fifteen years. Working mostly with his wife, Karen Willson, he has penned over 50 episodes of television animation from GI Joe and Superman to the recent Pocket Dragons. He has also written in a wide variety of arenas—comic strips, comic magazines, interactive multimedia, technical specifications and musical lyrics. Among other projects, he is currently Creative Director for A Girl's World Online Clubhouse' at www.agirlsworld.com.

LEE WHITE

MBA in Accounting and Systems from Northwestern University

Mr. White is a CPA in a public practice that is focused on management advisory services. He has had line management experience growing companies from start-ups to $24 million.
