Financial Aid
The financial aid year runs from May to May of each year. You must apply every year that you wish to receive aid. Student applications are accepted throughout the academic year but early application is encouraged.
If you are a first time borrower, the entire loan process can take up to 8-10 weeks. First time borrowers at Webster University must go through Entrance Loan Counseling before any loans can be processed.
To apply for financial aid, you must complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You must also complete the Webster University Graduate Financial Aid Form and submit it to your home campus.
If you are renewing or requesting additional funding, it will take approximately 3-6 weeks to process the loan. If additional information is required, you will receive a follow-up letter from Webster University. Respond with complete and accurate information in order for your loan to be processed.
Once your loan has been approved, you will receive an award letter in the mail. In addition, if this is your first time applying, you will receive a Master Promissory Note (MPN) from the lender to complete and submit. The MPN is VERY important; the loan cannot be disbursed without it.
Your financial aid is credited to your account after the add/drop deadline. Webster uses the funds to pay all outstanding charges and refunds any remaining funds to you.
You must be continuously enrolled at least half-time (3 credits) to be eligible for Financial Aid. If you are enrolled full-time (6 credits), indicate that on the Financial Aid Form under Project Enrollment for maximum award consideration. If you do not attend during a term originally stated on the application, immediately contact your home campus.
You are not eligible for a loan if you have defaulted on a previous school loan or have been convicted of a felony.
To determine the amount of money you want to borrow, consider these factors:
- The amount of your tuition
- The number of classes/terms you will be attending
- Cost of books (average per class is $150)
- Equipment and/or supplies (computer, printer, software, etc.)
- Child care services, if needed
