Housing

Kansai University built an International Student House in March 1989 to receive students from abroad. Foreign students will share a room with a Japanese student. It has a spacious dining room, a lounge, a library, and Japanese-style rooms.

Student Life

The main activities of university students should be those of study and research conforming to the programs set up for respective departments.

However, other important activities of students will be those connected with the Student Council and such group activities done by the Athletic Association, including judo and baseball, the Cultural Association, including tea, calligraphy, and orchestra, and the Extracurricular Study Association, including the English Studying Society and the Japanese Literature Study Club.

These activities are encouraged because by taking part in them students will cultivate independent minds, build up their character, and enlarge their knowledge. The office of Dean of Students is established to give students advice and help them with difficulties and problems that arise from their life and activities on and off the campus.

Events for Foreign Students

Kansai University sponsors the following programs to promote friendly exchange among students, faculty and staff and to help them understand the traditional culture and advanced technology of Japan.

Excursions

Every year in the fall, foreign students are given the opportunity to taken an overnight trip for a 2-day chance to view at first-hand some aspect of Japanese culture which can be best experienced away from metropolitan Osaka. Such trips are at least pleasant changes from everyday class activities, and at best chance to experience something new and perhaps unexpected within the surprisingly broad range of Japanese culture.

March Farewell party for graduating seniors

International Lounges

The Center for International Affairs provides an International lounge for all students, foreign and Japanese. Announcements of events and home-stay programs are posted in the Lounge. Newspapers from abroad are also available in the Lounge.

The International Lounge is a good place for foreign students to meet their fellow-students from within Japan as well as abroad. All students are welcome to use any available computer to access information on universities throughout the world through the Internet. Brochures from sister universities are also available in this room.
