One of our favorites, this site provides encyclopedias, dictionaries, Roget's Thesaurus, Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, The King James Bible, The Harvard Classics series, Strunk and White's Elements of Style, Robert's Rules of Order, the complete collection of U.S. Presidential Inaugurals, and full or partial texts of dozens of well-known works of literature, poetry, and non-fiction. http://www.bartleby.com

The Library of Congress
One of the highlights of this site is "Thomas," a portal to U.S. legislative information, including the full text and history of House and Senate bills and committee reports, as well as explanations of the legislative process.  Also explore "America's Library," get updates on current exhibitions at the Library, and search the sound, print, and text catalogs of the Library of Congress. http://www.loc.gov

Project Gutenberg
As their homepage attests, "Project Gutenberg is the Internet's oldest producer of FREE electronic books (eBooks or eTexts)."  Their list includes public domain works by hundreds of authors, including Shakespeare, Dante, Lewis Carroll, etc.  The database is searchable by author or title. http://promo.net/pg/index.html
