Iamblichus

Isocrates

Leucippus
The originator of the atomic theory was a contemporary of Socrates. His birthplace was variously reported as Elea, Miletus, and Abdera, but these are more likely associations based on his philosophical interests rather than accurate reports. The fact is little is known about his life. Two works are often attributed to him: The Great World System or (MEGAS DIAKOSMOS) and On Mind. It is probably piontless to try to distinguish his contributions to atomism from those of his pupil Democritus, but there is little question that the fundamental outlines of the theory were his invention.
