About me

I grew up in the Bronx, earned a BA in mathematics from the City College of New York and an MA in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh. I've been at Webster University since 1970, and live in St. Louis, Missouri. I drink a great deal of coffee.

I belong to the American Philosphical Association, the International Studies Association, the Latin America Studies Association and American Association of University Professors.

I'm a card-carrying member of the American Civil Liberties Union, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, North American Congress on Latin America, Peace Action, the NAACP, the Sierra Club, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
